Until 200 years ago, the ancient Nabatean City was a secret of Jordan. Bedouins had been using this mystical place for centuries before outsiders discovered it in 1812. The journey starts with a 2 kilometer walk, where the path is lined with candles as you make your way to Treasure, the illustrious site of Petra. Once you reach there, you'll be welcomed by traditional Bedouin music and will be offered tea as you sit in silence. Petra is celebrating its 200th anniversary of discovery this year and if you plan to visit this ancient city you're in for a spectacular experience.
