Alexa Meade paints on her models, situates them in a scene to make them look like a two-dimensional painting altogether. Moreover, her “approach to portraiture includes painting the faces and bodies of her models–fabricating additional shadows across cheekbones or slathering a thick layer of paint atop eyebrows–then photographing them.” Acclaim for her work has been positive, what started out as an experiment is now well-received artwork.
