Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects have designed this gorgeous home in Locarno, Switzerland. Its best feature would have to be the breathtaking view of the city while being surrounded by mountains and a lake.
Description by Wespi de Meuron Romeo Architects:
The new building is located in a densely built-up villas quartier via Lugano, with view on the city, lake and mountains. The design reacts with restraint on an everyday theme: build in urban chaos. Therefore, omitting the use of attributes of a classical house: only two simple cut, mutually staggered stone cubes work from the mountain out – fragmentarily – more of the landscape, as the quartier belonging – more wall as a house – the one time allocation eluding. Habitable interiors created by the principle of the excavation. Two similar, with a large wood gate closable openings, offer the residents inlet and outlook. Additional light enters through courtyards. The water of the inlet in the valley-side cube floating basin connects to the lake.
