Live like a Hobbit + Woodland Home (21 Images)

You are looking at pictures of a house Simon Dale built for his family in Wales. It was built by him and his father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends.

A script from Simon Dale's website reads:

The house was built with maximum regard for the environment and by reciprocation gives us a unique opportunity to live close to nature. Being your own (have a go) architect is a lot of fun and allows you to create and enjoy something which is part of yourself and the land rather than, at worst, a mass produced box designed for maximum profit and convenience of the construction industry. Building from natural materials does away with producers profits and the cocktail of carcinogenic poisons that fill most modern buildings.

Why they did it?

It's fun. Living your own life, in your own way is rewarding. Following our dreams keeps our souls alive.

There. A humble abode built with humble intentions.

What a lovelly cosy, touchy, feely home. Who wouldn't like to live like that? And as it is like a cave house in many ways, it should be a similar temperature all year around as well....

Probably, inspired by them. The design actually goes with its surroundings, so maybe it's more of inspired by that.

It is a place that you can really call home... It is the best way to build a home for your retirement.

Was it inspired by the house of Frodo or the house of Merlin?  It looks very comfortable and cozy.
